Excellent build blog. :AG

Very nice detail you show during it's construction. This will greatly help us all. I've not seen the bodywork construction for this latest truck anywhere before. I never used the body panels on mine as I changed it to a tow truck design.

I'm dying to see what colour you choose. :TU ...... Keep them pictures coming.

Cheers

Hi ken
When I got the truck last year I decided to take a photo of every step ish in the destructions as I have never seen anyone do it before either so I thought it might as well do it it might help someone out who is just starting out if they might have any questions Like on the gearbox they can see the photos If anyone does do the mission accomplished lol

As for the colour im torn between the pink and glitter silver our other trucks are painted in abd keep it as one of the fleet also it will stand out as its such a large truck
or an ice or pure white with a flick paint over the top so it changes colour slightly

Nice build Dus :TU
Glad its not just me that does the dry run build of the body parts before painting.

Mine got stripped down over the weekend with its first couple of coats of primer.
Got a bit of flatting to do before a final dust of primer and onto the colour coats.

I was in the same mind with mine colour wise & finally decided on ford diamond white with 501 legion markings to go with the stormtrooper driver.

What paint do you use ? I'd be interested in learning about techniques and brushwork, so please do some pictures of the process.

Now that I can't wait to see a storm trooper inside a storm trooper (well that's what the truck looks like to me)

The paint I used for cays knight hauler and my Mercedes 1838ls was tamiya ps paint
The paint you use to paint inside the polycarbonate (lexan) bodyshells it used to be reasonably expensive now it's just stupidly expensive for the amount of paint you get now :(

Ken

The paint I am using on the truck cab is Halfords aerosol spray paint.
I use the Halfords primer on all the bits (even the bits I am painting with the Tamiya ts paints) and then after making sure they are as good as I can get them with the aerosol can put a few thin colour coats on. Then its onto the clear coat if its needed for a nice shine.

I also use the Tamiya ts spray paints as I like the Tamiya colours such as the silver and colours for the interior bits but find the Tamiya paints very expensive and they don't go very far at all.

I will update my build thread with a few photos of the process at some point.

Glad its not just me and my daughter that think the gigaspace has a stormtrooper look to it :D . That's one of the main reasons its ended up white with the 501st logos.
A quick photo of the stormtrooper sat in the seat before he got stripped down and repainted to match the truck too.
Image
The dash and seats are primed, the lighter colours are the Tamiya ts paints and the black is Halfords semi gloss.

One of the reasons for repainting the stormtrooper is he is one of the original bootleg figures (from a few years ago) and they just happen to be quite a bit larger than the original star wars figures but he fits in the seat well and looks ok sat in the cab (I didn't take a photo of him sat in the dry run build of the cab) but the one thing that doesn't really show in the photo is that he is quite badly yellowed with age in a few places so needed refreshing.
They also do a darth vader (which I also have) but he needs a lot more work as he is bigger by half a inch and for some reason brown  , not sure if he is going to sit in a drivers or passenger seat as yet.
